Costume

Children can dress up as any character of a nursery rhyme – Miss Muffet, Humpty Dumpty, Jack and Jill, Mary and her lamb.

Or you could choose characters from well known Hindi nursery rhymes and lullabies. For instance ‘Chanda mama door ke’ which talks about the moon, ‘Machli jal ki rani hai’ which talks about the fish that is the queen of water, and many others. Better still, why not a butterfly, which flies from one place to the other in the rhyme ‘Titli udi’.

Decoration

Create an imaginative space with plants and creepers and a plastic spider hanging from its stem! Keep a few flowering plants around the room.

You can create a small hillock with the help of a table and wooden plank. Cover it with a mattress and spread a sheet on top.

Make a few stars and moon out of cardboard and put it on the wall against a dark background.

When the children come, you have to guess the character that they have come dressed up us and sing aloud the particular nursery rhyme. While you are singing the rhymes, they can act it out. When everyone assembles, put on some nursery rhyme cassettes to fill in the background ambience.
